Learn About Our Impact

Founded by Yevgeniya ‘Jane’ Gozenpud, a 20-year greenhouse professional, who has planted for and worked at some of the top greenhouses in the northwest Illinois area. For the last 5 years, Jane has been helping and coaching gardeners in northern Illinois, helping create sustainable wildlife areas and beautiful custom gardens.

Yevgeniya’s passion for gardening started in Belarus on her family’s farm, where she would often help her grandmother tend to her garden, and pick fruits. After immigrating to the United States, Yevgeniya started her first garden as a child living in Skokie, at the age of 9. After moving to Buffalo Grove, she created her first edible garden and began working at Leider Greenhouses.  After high school, she began working on school gardens in Illinois, and later on in northern California and began studying applied science at Harper College, and then College of Lake County. Yevegniya went on to pursue a degree in Marketing, was co-owner of Cafe Phenix, and has worked as a marketing consultant for the last 10 years while continuing to work in the horticulture industry.

Over the years, she has continued to follow her passion in horticulture and visited many organic farms, ecological centers and natural areas around the United States focusing on learning about ecology, permaculture, and urban gardens. At the same time, she began taking seminars at the Chicago Botanical Gardens, Occidental Ecology and Arts Center, as well as continuing her work custom planting for local greenhouses.

In recent years, she has been volunteering at Wagner Farm, helping them in their garden which provides produce for the Glenview Farmers Market, and help them care for their chickens.
